Cannes Beaches Guide for Cruise Passengers
Soft sand, turquoise water and nowhere to rush — when your port day should feel like a holiday.
Not every Cannes call demands a coach east to Monaco. The city's beaches sit within minutes of Gare Maritime, and the Îles de Lérins ferry offers crystal-clear swimming without a long transfer. Beach days deliver the highest return-to-ship confidence on the Riviera.
Plage du Midi, west of the centre, is the most cruise-friendly public beach — wide sand, calm water and a 10–15 minute walk or short taxi from Quai Laubeuf. Lounger rental is available but not mandatory; bring a towel and you are set.
La Croisette's private clubs offer a more polished experience — umbrella, lounger and waiter service — at €25–40 per person in season. Worth it if relaxation is your priority and you want guaranteed shade without hunting for public space.
The Îles de Lérins ferry departs from the port near Quai Max Laubeuf. Sainte-Marguerite island offers forest trails and the clearest water for swimming; Saint-Honorat hosts a working monastery. Allow a half-day for the ferry, island time and return.
Choosing the right beach for your port window
On calls of 4–6 hours, Plage du Midi alone is realistic — 2–3 hours on the sand with a comfortable walk back to Gare Maritime. On longer calls, add an Îles de Lérins ferry trip or combine a morning beach session with an afternoon Le Suquet stroll.
Always set a phone alarm 90 minutes before all-aboard. Beach days feel deceptively relaxed, and the walk from Plage du Midi to the terminal takes 15–20 minutes. Ferry passengers must check return sailing times — the last boats are not negotiable.
